Thomas is a first-class honours graduate in Film Studies and Film Production from Edge Hill University.
His debut documentary, Autism: A Curious Case of the Human Mind, earned Best Feature Documentary and Best of Festival awards at the BAFTA-Cymru qualifying Carmarthen Bay Film Festival in 2017. His following project, a documentary short titled Sticks and Feathers saw his work awarded with the Best Factual Film prize in 2018 at Hothouse Theatre’s Nottingham Film Festival.
After receiving positive affirmation for his documentary work, Thomas has since moved into fictional narrative projects. His debut short film, Captive, picked up various awards around the UK festival circuit and his follow up project, The Break, toured the United Kingdom as part of the Ffilm Ifanc's Made in Wales Showcase throughout 2022. He also produced and edited Bud, a short film by Jack McLoughlin that found awards success in the festival circuit and was also selected as part of the 2022 BFI Future Film Festival. Securing a screening at BFI Southbank, London, and streaming access through the BFI Player for two weeks.
In 2019, he came on board to produce Kate & Jake, alongside writer/director Jack McLoughlin and Kayleigh Paige-Rees of Raspberry Films. The feature film was shot during the summer of 2021, with him working as First Assistant Director and Editor. The film is set for release in 2022. Also, in January 2022, Thomas came on-board as First Assistant Director for The Latent Image, an LGBTQ+ thriller/horror feature film that is also set for a 2023 release.
