Director Statement

Onome's story emerges from the heartbreaking reality of rising numbers of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) victims in Nigeria, a tragic consequence of certain traditional practices among some ethnic groups.

Many believe that without undergoing circumcision, a girl will struggle to find happiness in marriage. Unfortunately, this deeply ingrained belief has led to immense suffering, as countless young girls are losing their lives far too soon as a result of these practices.

This poignant narrative serves as a call to action for stakeholders, support organizations, and government bodies to unite in the fight against Female Genital Mutilation. Together, we can work towards safeguarding the health and future of our young girls, allowing them the chance to thrive in a world free from such harm.
