A weekend celebration of Science Fiction from all over the world. We will present you with a selection of insights and stories never seen. There is plenty of planning and work to do. We are open to participants planetwide to join us in the impressive, historical rich city of Baltimore, Maryland.

The intent of The Outer Rim Festival is to showcase the best in Science Fiction, and other imaginatively-themed films from around the world. This celebration is in the historically rich city of Baltimore, Maryland. Our creative and inspirational environment is ideal for exploring films that ponder the infinite possibilities our multiverse holds.

In addition to the amazing films, there will be workshops, panels, and lectures.

Notifications typically begin a week after the last submission date. So grab tickets early, inform your friends, and prepare for the best original content to reach the DMV.

Rules & Terms

Content submitted to the Outer Rim festival will be promoted on our website, in printed materials (such as the festival program), and in our press and marketing activity (this can include presenting films that we have selected to the press). The filmmaker gives us the right to use the name of the film, the images submitted for the uses listed. We also inquire if the filmmaker wants to screen their film at tours or similar activities; as we often get asked to provide guest spots at other festivals and events.

Once a film is officially accepted to the festival, the filmmaker can no longer withdraw it from the festival lineup. The filmmaker is also responsible for submitting the screening materials at least four weeks before the festival. If the screening will be a world premiere, please let us know as we will do our best to promote to the local community, and please keep us abreast of your production and marketing activities!

The Outer Rim Science Fiction Film Festival is hereby granted the right to utilize an excerpt (about 1 minute or less) from any film submitted and accepted for exhibition at the Festival for promotional purposes. The individual or corporation submitting the film hereby warrants that it is authorized to commit the film for screening, and understands and accepts these requirements and regulations. The undersigned shall indemnify and hold harmless Outer Rim Science Fiction Film Festival or its assignees, from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and loss of or damage to the screening videos entered.

    Our sci-fi feature film "Hemisphere" was an official selection and we were able to attend festival in person, in nearby Baltimore. This was its inaugural year. Festival organizer Troy was very nice and accommodating. Good panels. I think festival would benefit from having more help to prepare the screening venue ahead of time. Some of the prep seemed a bit last-minute. Recommend it.

    Our production, THE MONSTER MAN, was chosen for THE OUTER RIM and screened. I'm writing this review before knowing if we won, drew or lost! (Although truth be told we've won by being selected). For an inaugural festival I can only say it seems like it's been established for years! Great communication and support. I'd dearly have loved to attend and soak up the atmosphere. Maybe one day! Highly recommended.
