Xiomara Bernard is known as an actor in independent film community. She has worked on films, TV, web series and voice over for animation and readings. She and her partners recently opened their production company, Theophilus Films. NIGHT is Bernard's directorial debut and her company's first project.
In 2011, I was meditating on a beach during a tumultuous time in my life (long story short, I had no place to call home). My foundation was rocked. As I was sitting on the sand, staring out into the ocean, I had a Divine essence come in front of me, and 15 short films shot into my head, "Night" being one of them. I was inspired to start a production company, which was originally called "Violet Fire Productions". I had a vision of my cast and crew, walking on the beach. 2013, I shot the film with my producing partners (Allison Chaney and Erin Okamoto), and the company was changed to "Theophilus Films"... Talk about the power of manifestation with Divine guidance, I was working with Film LA, who assigned the location spot to me, not knowing where on the beach it would be. It was the same spot I meditated two years prior. And I saw my cast and crew walking ahead of me that day, the same people I saw in my vision. I was speechless and in awe. This film is very dear to me. Even though it wasn't about anyone. I was inspired by mini-events that have happened to me as well as other pals of mine when we were young and combined them together. I decided to let the story tell itself. It used to belong to us. Now it's a story that belongs to everyone.
