The Little c
THE LITTLE C tells the unexpected and untold story of cancer through the voices and stories of real-life cancer patients. It tracks these stories as they make their way from patient to stage as part of the 2016 musical A PACIFIST'S GUIDE TO THE WAR ON CANCER. The film follows the show's development from a coffee meeting in 2014 to a UK tour in 2016, and charts the creative team's efforts to bring a fresh voice to a difficult and loaded subject.

THE LITTLE C is my first documentary, and one that’s very important to me. The people I met and the stories I heard whilst making it provided me with an education, both in the nuances of the experience of having cancer, and in the fallacy of a monolithic view of the disease.
In truth, this film started life as a straight-forward ‘making of’ documentary, focussing on the musical A PACIFIST'S GUIDE TO THE WAR ON CANCER. But, influenced by the interviews and stories I gathered during the process, it became much more of an exploration of the untold story of cancer. Asking us why we talk about cancer in the way we do, and how we might find new, inclusive ways to do this.
It was a real pleasure working with a theatre company like Complicité and an artist like Bryony. Both allowed me the access and support to tell these stories without compromise.
I hope you enjoy the film.
