The Letter
The weather storms around you, and your friends falls down to the wet, frozen ground as dead meat, what do you do?
It explodes all around you, and you are surrounded by beastly, hostile soldiers. It all happens in front of your eyes, in a world
based on hate and pure evilness. Blinded by hatred and anger, the only key to win such a war, is slaughter. But deep inside,
whispers a familiar voice. A voice of hope and love. We follow a soldier’s story in this brutal world, and somewhere in this world,
someone is waiting for him.

Simon Gjerde Tonev was born in a small town on an island on the western coast of Norway on 28th of January 1998. His family consists of Norwegians and Bulgarians. He started filmmaking when he was 9 years old, and ever since he was a child he was interested in entertainment in both music and films. Tonev's passion for film production grew, and his ambitions and goals were set to achieve a career as a film director. According to an article published by Norway's National Broadcasting Corportation, Tonev's inspiration comes from Quentin Tarantino, Steven Spielberg, David Fincher and Ennio Morricone.
Today, the young director believes in film both as an art, and as entertainment. According to Tonev, films can also be used to change people: "Films can be used to entertain, to inspire, to explore and to learn. I want to tell the important stories in life, about injustice, racism, love and hope. It is a powerful tool, and it can be used to both good and evil. I believe that being both Norwegian and Bulgarian, having one foot in each country, gives me a different perspective on culture, life and people. I want to use this. People are people, and many seem to forget this. Unfortunately. I believe that can change, and I want to be a part of it."
