Director Statement

With a stoner soundtrack background and riding a Chevrolet Opala from 1973, the brothers Bel and Mau, start a journey throughout the rural territory of the Brazilian state Espírito Santo. What are they looking for? Another car: a Ford Maverick that had belonged to their father, who abandoned them as children. This is a road movie with rock atmosphere and alcoholic vapours. Along the road, the brothers (one a sturdy man and the other a womanizer) run into different characters that show signals of the object of their desire (the Ford), or that offer them a mirror that reflects a mutable identity, that speaks of both pass and destiny. The more or less direct tributes on this directorial debut film are noticeable in the references to L'armata Brancaleone (For Love and Gold), the outrageous entourage that starts following them as the film progresses, or to the cult film Vanishing Point. The film, shot over four weeks, fulfils an old dream of the director, who includes in the cast some renowned names (both main characters are known in the local rock scene).
