The Cycle
THE CYCLE follows the homecoming journey of a gay Singaporean man, who desires his father's acceptance of his husband, their soon-to-be born son and ultimately, himself. The man reconnects with his childhood through a game of Chinese chess with his father, and satisfies a childhood desire to learn how to cycle from him. Through this journey, the man comes to a revelation about fatherhood and the cycle of life.

Benjamin is a Singapore-based strategy consultant / filmmaker / activist. An Economics graduate from New York University, he works at Accenture Strategy and devotes his spare time to film and activism, and their intersections with strategy. At his full time job, he focuses on technology strategy consulting for the financial services industry. The Cycle is his first formal venture into film, both in writing and directing, and is a natural extension of his LGBTQ activism. He advocated for the queer community at NYU, as Vice President of Stern Pride Corp, and is an outspoken leader of Pride at Accenture Singapore. Externally, he organized his high school alumni to participate in Pink Dot 2017. Benjamin desires to blend his passions and skills to create, strategize, organize, and fund projects with good social outcomes.
Born and raised in Singapore, Dewi Tan is a budding filmmaker that is currently residing in New York City. Having graduated from New York University with studies in Anthropology and Film, her passion lies in learning about socio-cultural structures that govern the way of life in various communities around the world. She aims to someday create her own social enterprise that would help develop a more conscious and integrated community for our society. Together with her love for the arts, she believes in the importance of the production and circulation of knowledge through visual media, and seeks to bring various issues to attention through film. Dewi currently works as a Development Assistant at Narativ, a listening and storytelling company that uses storytelling as a tool to transform communication in nonprofit and corporate spaces.
