Christos Sagias was born in Athens in May 1994. Soon he moved to Thessaloniki where he is currently living. Since 2012 he has been studying as a director at the Film Department of the School of Fine Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. In recent years, he has been actively involved in the school as well as outside, with short projects and music clips for local artists. "The After Life" is his first short film.
There is not much you can tell about this story, and because of its topic I do not know if I should really say much. I have the expectation that the film will speak on its own when the time comes.
As it is obvious, the film's theme is the emotional management of the loss of a loved one. There is no rule in these cases, everything’s confused and everyone acts in the way they seem fit. I think it would be unfair or wrong to classify this film as a manifesto or some kind of didactic story. On the contrary, in my opinion, it is just a film of observation of loss, just as I have experienced myself in recent years in my personal life. Neither solutions nor big words. Simple observation and harsh irony.
Is not that life itself?
