Excavating Drama: The [Overlooked] Story of the African Grove and the African Company

This short documentary video examines the history of Black theatre artists in the larger narratives of American theatre history. Specifically, the African Grove and the African Company are featured as important steps in the development of theatre by and for African-Americans in the early part of the nineteenth century.
