Director Statement

The Film „The Concert“ was born out of a spontainous idea to make a short film with a tuba player. One of my all time artistic heroes is Charles Chaplin. Inspired by his legacy I wanted to find my way of combining music movement and film. Since I am a musician myself, I was always fascinated by musicians and their relationship with their instruments. Tibor Locher, the lead actor in the film, played the tuba in a Romeo and Juliet production I was part of. I loved the filmic look of the tuba and how Tibor played it, so we had the idea of making this film. The shooting process was very spontainious and improvised. We did not have a thought out concept or script. The only goal was to get the man with the tuba from his home to the concert in time. So this films shows in a poetic and humoristic way what artists went through during the last 1 ½ Jears.
