Théo Koutsaftis was born in 1992 in France. He grew up in Athens where he had his first experiences with theatre and cinema. Since 2010 he is attending the Sorbonne Universities of Paris where he follows film and theatre classes. “Hook, Line & Sinker” is his first feature-length movie.
"Hook, Line & Sinker" began as a passion project, back when I was in my second year of studies: tired of my exclusively theoretical classes, I gathered a group of friends and set out to use a simple DSLR to tell a story with no agenda and no support. What began as a challenge quickly evolved into something bigger: along with scriptwriter Yiannis Charalampopoulos we decided that we wanted to tell a classic story through a new angle. We took the structure of the film noir and followed the recipe, transforming every traditionally male character into a female one along the way.
The production was made possible thanks to the dedication of the cast and crew, who worked odd hours, for six months, to complete the shooting. Despite a crazy schedule that had to fit everyone classes and exams, they stood by and contributed to making the film what it is today: a complete feature-length film.
We were extremely lucky to have the support of producer Antigoni Gavriatopoulou, who took care of providing a team of professionals for the post-production stage. Thanks to their know-how and talent, this small film was given a real shot at post-production: the editing, color grading, sound design and the score were created in professional conditions, making it possible for it to compete in Festivals.
I am forever grateful for the dedication of everyone involved in the making of this film: from the passionate students and semi-professionals who helped us through the shooting to the professionals that welcomed this project into their expert hands.
