FREE SUBMISSIONS
Q: Does the entire scene have to be set in an NYC laundromat?
A: Yes. The scene's only location must be a laundromat in NYC. Exterior shots at the laundromat entrance are also acceptable. No private laundry rooms.
Q: Does the scene need to be in screenplay format?
A: Screenplay format is not required as long as you submit a PDF. Don't stress too much about formatting, but if you are interested free screenwriting software, consider a free trial from Celtx.
Q: If I submit, will I retain rights to my work?
A: Yes. If we are interested in workshopping your script for the Super Laundry feature film, we will reach out directly with more info.
Q: If I don’t win a prize, can I still be included in the Super Laundry Feature Film?
A: Yes!
Q: What constitutes a Non-English Language scene?
A: At least 50% of the dialogue should be in a Non-English language. Writers who wish to be considered for the Non-English Language Award should should be proficient the language represented in their script. Non-English dialogue must be accompanied by English translations. You may include translations within your official submission OR email a fully English version of the script to superlaundry@gmail.com.
Q: What is the NYC Spirit Award?
A: To be considered for the NYC Spirit Award, the writer must be a current New York City resident.
Q: Will submissions be considered for multiple awards categories?
A: Yes. Submissions will be considered for all applicable awards categories. For example: If you submit a comedy scene with significant dialogue in a Non-English language and you currently reside in NYC, your submission will be considered for awards in the Comedy, Non-English Language, and NYC Spirit sections.
Q: Is there a page limit?
A: Any scene length is acceptable, but under 15 pages is recommended.
