Subnivean Snuff re-tells an historical environmental crime story. It explores human desires to manipulate ecosystems and their inhabitant by re-imagining a 1958 nature documentary which famously depicts the false suicide of a group of lemmings.

Rachel Evans was born in Red Deer Alberta. She completed her visual art degree in 2007 at the University of Victoria, majoring in sculpture and drawing. She has spent much of her life working with animals and this work has greatly influenced her art practice.
