Experiencing Interruptions?

Stone King

Stone King is the story of one man's quest to bring to life his interpretation of mountain biking.

When Trans-Provence, the world's first point-to-point enduro mountain bike race saw the light of day in 2009, it was a years-in-the-making manifestation of a mountain biking "film script" in Ash Smith's mind. A real-life open memo to the MTB world about what he felt the sport should stand for, and what potential it could fulfil.

Stone King documents the journey, firstly to the point of a message being delivered through the innovation that was Trans-Provence and then beyond that event, it explores how a showcasing alone of a type of mountain biking is not enough.

Once a fan of trail secrecy and keeping awesome terrain under wraps, Smith now believes that to truly develop and improve the physical and organisational infrastructures upon which mountain biking in wild zones (and a related touristic activity) relies, collaboration and inclusivity are required.

The Stone King project endeavours to build a synergistic ecotourism platform to this end, covering one, broad Alps-to-Sea corridor in the huge adventure playground that is the Southwestern Alps.
