Director Statement

The development of this film was too weird. Lots of coincidences. No clear plan. Yet clarity in knowing something was rotten. Something was wrong and required investigation and documenting where no one else was looking.

When the Zika stories emerged I was drawn to 1970s Vietnam videos of deformed and suffering children. There seemed to be a link that could only be uncovered by seeing first hand.
So I went to the NE Brazil epicenter to meet families. I went to Vietnam and the doors opened to visit the detox centers. The Miami spraying seemed so darkly ironic – spraying people with neurotoxins to avoid birth defects.

And being a Florida resident I had to check this situation out. The findings were haunting because of the scope of the potential links that I hoped were paranoia.

I did my best to stay open minded. To let the story develop by itself. By the end all of us on the project became investigative researchers with cameras. The story unfolded in the edit room.
(I was sprayed with Agent Orange in the 1980s.)
