The Southern Fried Film Festival, held in the Rocket City (Huntsville, AL), is an international film festival celebrating the beauty of cinema. The festival will spotlight films and filmmakers from around the world, allowing film-goers the opportunity to experience a diverse range of storytelling.

Rules & Terms

CATEGORIES
We accept submissions of Feature Narrative, Short Narrative, Feature Documentary, Short Documentary, and Science/Technology. Animation is accepted in all categories.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Language:
All films must be in English or with English subtitles.

Duration/Running Time:
Feature Narrative: No less than 60 minutes
Short Narrative: Less than 45 minutes
Feature Documentary: No Less than 50 minutes
Short Documentary: Less than 45 minutes
Animation: no limitations

We do not accept trailers or work in progress. Submit only one version of the film.

RULES FOR SELECTED FILMS
Filmmakers selected for the competition will be notified by April 26th, 2024.

If your film is selected, you must provide the following:

Electronic Press kits & High Resolution Digital Photos
Posters / Postcards and other available publicity material

Deadline: May 17, 2024
Exhibition copies due to festival office no later than May 20, 2024.

SHIPPING
Exhibition copies must be sent to the festival prepaid. The shipping and handling costs to the festival office will be covered by the entrant. The festival cannot accept responsibility for damage or loss of materials while in transit.

    Though I could only be there for a short time, my partner and I enjoyed the hospitality of the staff and other filmmakers that we met...even falling in love with the entire city! You all are really amazing and I am honored to have been a part of a brilliant film festival! See you (longer) next year!! ❤️❤️❤️

    The film festival was truncated due to the current COVID-19 epidemic.

    Instead of taking the easy way out, the SFFF changed the format to a drive-in festival, and made it FREE for all interested parties. This provided the local area with a bright spot to celebrate the arts in a rather dark time.

    The films that were selected were a very wide cross section of genre and budget from small to major. I applaud the SFFF staff and curators for not giving up and for making this festival a community event vs an elitist gathering that most festivals have morphed into. I can only subtract for the loss of networking and that isnt the festivals fault due to the nature of where we are currently.
