Sophia Tamaro is an award-winning European writer and director. She was born in Trieste to German/Italian parents and grew up between there and Hong Kong.
She graduated with a First Class Honours degree from the University of Kent in 2014, where she studied Film.
In 2015, Sophia was introduced to the fascinating world of casting when she met casting director Beatrice Kruger, with whom she worked on several international projects. She started translating scripts, treatments and pitch decks for European production companies at the same time.
In 2018, she was selected as a Finalist by the prestigious ScreenCraft Short Film Screenplay Competition and the Screenwriting competition at the New Orleans Film Festival with “Freya” – which Sophia co-wrote with British screenwriter Jo Fox. The project was also a Second Rounder at the Austin Film Festival.
In 2020 and 2021, Sophia worked in the production office and AD department of several high-profile projects, such as Sony’s Uncharted, Shondaland & Netflix’s Inventing Anna and the German Netflix series Die Kaiserin.
In autumn 2021, Sophia was hired to co-write a historical espionage drama for Full Dozen Films. She is now attached to several Full Dozen projects as a writer.
Sophia is also currently in the last stage of post-production with her new short film, Lichtblick - Glimmer of Hope.
