Song of Syria
Song of Syria offers an aesthetic and political reflection on the armed conflict taking place in Syria since 2013. Made from recordings Air strikes posted on Youtube , this installation attempts to offer a reflection on the media censorship carried out by the regime of Bashar al-Assad and illegibility of the conflict. The war and its dead are invisible here to see given hollow while being embodied in the camera movements and the hovering threat of a helicopter flight .

Specialized in artistic representation of war and coercive phenomena of the Arab-Muslim worlds, Mathilde pursued theoretical studies in history and art history and is currently at the École des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris. In continuity of her reflexive approach, her plastic production intends to question the conditions of visibility in violent situations, bringing out a critical look at war and images.
