someplace else
The essayfilm "someplace else" experimentally tells the story of the estrangement of growing up in Germany as a Person of Color.
In 8 minutes an indiviual journey is told - from feeling alienated in German society as a child, to developing a notion of belonging that is inherently connected to some other place. While the narrative subtly oscillates between inner and outer exploration, an evanescent idea of belonging builds up and leaves us as viewers in a place we have yet to grasp ourselves.
The film takes us on a trip through personal photography, abstract shots and raw, seemingly incidental footage. All this is accompanied by experimental ambient acoustic and electric guitar.

I was born in 1987 in Frankfurt, Germany and grew up in a beautiful part of town that‘s largely influenced by its migrant communities.
Coming of age with my own very specific ethnic background sparked in me a strong urge to explore questions of identity, belonging and culture. This later led me to study sociology and then art education.
I now work as a full time artist in film, painting and performance.
