《The Slow Train: Old Engine Ignites New Life》
With livestock under the seats, sacks full of mushrooms, packbaskets loading fruits, and even lambs and piggies along the corridor, the 5633 train moves towards the bright future. The slow train, which permits both people and livestock aboard, serves as a link regardless of costs. It won’t leave anybody who desires to go out of the big mountain for further development. The train snakes its way on the old Chengdu-Kunming Railway, building a bridge connecting the central part of Daliang Mountain and the outside world. It is closely related to the past, the present and the future of Yi people(Yi ethnic group is one of the Chinese 56 ethnic minorities ). Carrying the Yi people along the way, the train wriggles it way out of the mountain and then goes back to the mountain day after day. The train will never stop running, for Daliang mountain and the people living there needs it.

The green trains seem to have been obsolete compared to the current high-speed railways. During my summer vacation, I had to take the green trains several times when I went to remote areas for filming. I encountered various people and heard and witnessed varieties of stories in the old carriage, which showed a lively scene of hustle and bustle. From another perspective, there are only several trains gaining no profit solely for poverty alleviation, and the number is still decreasing. The 5633 train, as the only two trains still running on the old Chengdu-Kunming Railway, is worth recording.
