Director Statement

The idea for Sloppy Seconds first came about from conversations with Bompas and Parr about the early days of their business. What they expected was bookings for lavish parties and high brow events, but the reality included a few request they weren’t expecting. Splosh parties. This film takes you on an unexpected adventure into the private world of Sploshing and opens your eyes to the other side ‘playing with your food’. My creative vision for the film came from the perspectives of members of Sploshing culture itself. For them it is not weird, sleazy underworld but silly, fun and sexy without taking itself too seriously. I wanted to celebrate open-mindedness and sexuality; and the colourful, cheeky nature of Bompas and Parr’s wobbly delights seemed a perfect fit.
