/// HALF
/// An NYC artist, on a 'trip' to fully understand herself, chooses to embrace her other 'HALF'- her dark side - by personifying her shadow self and engaging with her inner demons in an edgy, existential and surreal landscape.
/// HALF is a modern psychedelic, psychological, multimedia, visual feast featuring anthemic alternative rock songs with messages of existential themes, horror and female empowerment.
/// This visual album is "///HALF" of the concept record, THE VILLAINESS, in album order. All music, lyrics, video art, direction, performance, funding and production created by the artist, Militia Vox- the ONLY artist to ever do so- DIY to the extreme!
///This film also incorporates 2nd screen technology- lyric videos to be watched in real time with the film on your phone, tablet or laptop.

MILITIA VOX has no regard for genre, gender roles or stereotypes. A truly modern multi-hyphenate artist with a DIY ethos; this black cat has had many lives and has always broken boundaries.
Known as an electrifying frontwoman, songwriter/composer and visual artist, Militia’s mesmerizing presence, raw power, 4 octave range and vision has captured the hearts of icons and outsiders alike. An award-winning solo artist (MILITIA VOX) and lead singer of all-girl heavy metal sensation, JUDAS PRIESTESS; she is always a crowd favorite at international festivals and events- everything from biker rallies to the prestigious museums.
Militia Vox draws from a palette of prog/psychedelic rock, heavy metal, grunge, gothic/industrial and horror. Her most recent original works are connected via her ongoing project, THE VILLAINESS- a multimedia project that presents the unique perspective of an alternative female of color that embraces her “shadow self” and inner demons for self-discovery, against the grain. THE VILLAINESS full length album was released October 19, 2018 to rave reviews and will be released as a visual album and art installation.
Militia creates, directs, produces and performs in her own music videos, which have recently won awards and official selections at several music and film festivals including “Best Music Video” in ARFF Paris 2019, “Best Avant Garde Video” in the 2018 LA Music Video Awards and “Best Female Vocalist”, “Best Lyrics/Songwriting”, “Best in Genre: Alternative Metal” in the 2017 Global Music Awards. My best efforts are geared towards inclusion and representation, to widen public perception of women of color in this world.
There are many types of women of color within the spectrum, but we are often limited to 2 types that the media and society are most comfortable with:
1.) The sassy friend- (often asks other characters "Are you ok?")
2.) The "Momma" archetype- (sometimes earth mother, "mystical darkie" or mourning mother.)
My mission is to prove that there are more types and voices- color does not dictate behavior- and these stories are beautiful, radiant, important, universal and human.
I am the change I want to see and I will incessantly make interesting, intense and badass art, by any and all means necessary. You won’t be bored- promise.
Thank you!
