I want to touch the sky
A human tower is a catalan tradition where people gather together to create a human castle. Teams are considered to succeed if they can build and deconstruct their towers without falling. In the last decades women have joined this tradition. Thank to that, human towers have achieved their maximum level, with heights of 10 stages.
Human towers wouldn't be possible without the figure of 'enxanetes'; children from the age of 5 who climb to the top. At the moment they rise their hand to the top, the human tower is considered finished. Most of these children are women. They are courageous, fearless and the only ones in the world who achieve to climb the most difficult human towers.
This is the story of how Maria Mhaf got to be one of the best 'enxanetes' in the world. She climbed and made possible one of the most important human towers ever done, 3 of 10 with 'folre' and 'manillas' in 2012. Maria's parents are originally from Morocco. They emigrated to Vilafranca del Penedés in the 80's. This Catalan town has one of the greatest human tower team of Catalonia. Maria's parents didn't know anything about human castles until they got to the town. When Maria was born, she soon realized that what she wanted to do was to be part of this tradition.
This film is about the strength of women and young women who are capable to overcome their fear and climb to the hight towers ever done. It also reflects the approach between cultures and how social activities help people come together no matter origin, gender or race.
