The Ridgway Creative District and the Sherbino Theater, in collaboration with the Four Corners Film Office, present the Ridgway Creative District Independent Film Fest. We are excited to be expanding to two nights this year! We’re inviting filmmakers to enter short films for a free public showing on Friday, November 9th & Saturday, November 10, 2017, from 6:00 – 9:00 PM at the historic Sherbino Theater in Ridgway, CO.
Films should be no more than 20 minutes in length, and our theme this year is Mise en scène, a technical filmmaking term that, in French, means 'placing on stage'. Filmmakers should follow the guidelines below for film submissions:
1. Films should be limited to only one continuous shot or have no apparent cuts.
2. Films will be judged by the composition of this one shot - meaning that the judges will take into account the cinematography, the shot composition, lighting, decor, props, costumes, actors, and everything else that appears on screen.
3. Films must have a total run time of no longer than 20 minutes.
4. Given the avant-garde nature of our theme this year, films do not have to be narrative in nature, we will be accepting all work that celebrate the art of the motion picture and welcome all genres of films for submission.
Films will be juried for selection to be shown at the 3-hour/night event. Selected filmmakers should be prepared to give a 5-minute presentation about the inspiration for the film and/or anecdotes about the making of the film (this can be done in person or remotely).
Films must be submitted by Friday, October 5, 2018 at 5:00PM. Please submit entries here, or to Diedra Silbert, dsilbert@town.ridgway.co.us, or mail it to Town of Ridgway Creative District, PO Box 10, Ridgway, CO 81432. If you’re not submitting here, an entry form, available at ridgwaycreativedistrict.com, must accompany your film. Entries are accepted in these formats: YouTube, Vimeo, or other online video hosting site, flash drive or DVD.
