Refém

Refém tells the story of Maria who is kidnapped and used for extorsion of her father’s money.

In this sad journey, she is subjected to brutal events which will mark her life forever.

Fear, anxiety, disgust are some of the emotions that could be found in this history, which could happen to anyone, but which hardily would end up like Maria’s story!

Director Biography - Pedro Mira

Pedro is in Eu Amo Sac since its creation, in 2010. Since then, he has a dream of making film with the young people of the Eu Amo Sac project. Over the years, he trained and worked with some of the youngsters in the various technical areas. From there, it stopped from being his dream alone to become a dream of many. From that dream it was born three short films: Nas Entrelinhas, Nojo and Refém!

However, Pedro’s dream does not stop here. He dreams even higher with the making of a feature film which he wrote in 2010: Dia Sim, Dia Não! He believes that until he gets there, other beautiful things will be born between. We will have to wait to see what is coming!

Pedro likes to do what is unexpected, he likes to go outside of the box, and to astonish.

As a social project inserted in neighbourhood context, it would be expected to make fiction out of intrigues, gang fights, etc... however, there it is, it would be the expected, it would not be something new, and therefore the choice of other genres like the ones in Nojo and Refém shortfilms.
