Recovering Hope

Birmingham, Alabama is fighting for its life against heroin addiction. The film features 6 people from different walks of life as they tell their personal stories about the different ways heroin affected their lives. Recovering Hope sheds light on the epidemic of heroin use in Birmingham and it's surrounding areas and teaches us that there is a way out of the darkness through recovery.

Director Biography - Drew Callner

Drew Callner
Director/Producer
Originally from Seattle Washington, Drew Callner moved to the south ten years ago.

After studying video production at the Art Institute of Seattle, Drew went on to pursue other ventures in life, including serving in the United States Marine Corps. Years later, he has come to find his passion for photography and filmmaking once again.

Drew currently lives and works as a freelance photographer/videographer in Birmingham, Alabama.

Director Statement

Heroin addiction has become a problem in our country and an epidemic in Birmingham, Alabama. Our goal with this film is to show that there is a way out of the darkness and a life after heroin addiction.
