Director Biography - Daniel Burkholz

Daniel Burkholz is an award winning director and producer. He first worked as lawyer for environment protection organizations and later as Head of an environment protection and an education agency. After an intermezzo as rescue diver and Divemaster in Thailand, Indonesia and Egypt, he studied the Nomad's culture of the Sinai, the Aborigine's culture in Queensland/Australia and stayed with the Bishnoi People of the Great Thar desert/India. In 2005, Daniel Burkholz founded Roadside Dokumentarfilm; his films have been officially selected for more than 300 festivals, fests and film series around the world. In 2020, Daniel Burkholz founded the NOMADS of Documentary.

Director Statement

I tried boxing - but, honestly, found it to hard to carry on. Instead, I practised Jiu Jutsu. Karate and Kempo for several years. I met numerous women martial art fighters, they all had at least one black belt. And, of course, they were far better fighters than me.
