RC Nelson is the main creator and craftsman at MattiBurns creative studio. He specializes in storytelling, character design, illustration and animation. RC received his bachelor’s degree in Time Based Media Studies from Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, OH in 2004 where he focused on traditional animation and video production. With experience in Illustration, Web Design & Motion Graphics, RC is now in his 12th year running his own studio where he brings stories to life through character-driven animation and motion design.

At the age of 9, RC discovered he had a wild imagination and the talent to draw. His creativity energy expanded beyond the paper as he grew older. “I wanted to hear the story,” he said in a 2011 interview for a Columbus-based college radio station. In pursuit of other creative outlets, he turned to his other passion: music. RC would spend countless nights making beats and writing songs with a collective of other talented musicians and artists., which has led to the release of four studio albums. He has also toured across the country and signed a distribution deal with the indie label A&R Records.

Matti Burns was originally the stage name of his great grandfather, which then became the name of his band. The name "MattiBurns" is rich with talent, passion, and history. When jumping into freelancing in 2008, RC decided to team up with a small group of talented freelancers to expand their offerings. This group of creatives specializes in a multitude of areas including 3D Animation, Web/App Development, Branding & Identity and more.
