Rafael López is an independent filmmaker and sound designer based in Guadalajara, Mexico. He studied Audiovisual Arts at ITESO, where his passion for experimental storytelling developed. His debut short film APOCALIPSIS was screened at Cineteca FICG, an important cinema in his city.
His work heavily driven by philosophy and psychology, taking inspiration from authors like Albert Camus, Ram Dass and Friedrich Nietzsche, as well as artists of various disciplines like Björk, Marina Abramović and Jonathan Caouette. Rafael believes that art must have depth and meaning, with every element thoughtfully crafted to convey a cohesive vision. His filmmaking style seeks to provoke reflection and go beyond genres, blending narrative, sound, and visuals to explore complex ideas.
