Crack Open My Head

Michael, an Israeli genderqueer artist, explores how to express their inner-self, when it doesn't match the outer one. "Crack Open My Head" deals with trans and queer self-expression, and presents Israel's queer community's conflict between raging against the government and constantly celebrating our uniqueness.

Director Biography - Ronnie Zidon

Ronnie Zidon is a 24-year-old Israeli film-maker. Currently studying film and television at Tel Aviv University, Zidon creates bold, young LGBTQ content with a heavy dose of humor. As an out lesbian in her field, Zidon is interested in increasing feminist, queer visibility on our screens.
Zidon wrote and directed Israel's first and only strictly lesbian television series, "Dyke Society", a 9-episode comedy peeking into the lives of a lesbian clique. This indie made-for-web was also screened at film theatres. Its spin-off, "Dyke Problems", revolves the daily adventures of one of the minor characters, and her relationship with her elderly neighbor.
During her three years at university, Zidon has created three short films: a documentary about a genderqueer artist, a romantic comedy about a lesbian who, due to horrible karma, literally thinks out loud, and a dark comedy about a celebrity vlogger whose real life collapses overnight.
Zidon has pursued her writing ambitions from a young age. She wrote a queer science fiction novel, and was a military journalist for three years. Now she is developing a full-length TV series about the celebrity vlogger, and a short ghost movie.
