Arkansas Valor - Mickey D. Hoggard

Interviews featuring Arkansas Veterans, who share their experiences so that others can better understand their selflessness and sacrifices.

The Vietnam War. One of the most controversial conflicts in modern times. Politicians, Military, Police, & Citizens were fighting battles at home and abroad. It was a conflict that split our nation’s heart in two. However one thing that stayed united, was the brotherhood overseas. American boys were drafted to add more manpower to US Military Operations in Vietnam. Most servicemen were unaware of the turmoil at home in what had become a political war. Yet, to them, they were performing a selfless act; they were answering the call of their nation. Specialist 5th Mickey D. Hoggard enlisted in 1969 with H Troop, 17th Cavalry, Mechanized Infantry. He served until 1973 when injuries he sustained no longer allowed him to serve. During his service he was awarded a Bronze Star, two Purple Hearts, and several other citations and medals. His bravery in action and defense of his country are what makes him an American treasure. Sit back and listen to his story of bravery on this edition of Arkansas Valor.

Director Biography - Terrence Ward

Born in 1989 in Northeast Arkansas, Terrence is the son of Anita Tallent of Jonesboro and Terry Ward of Walnut Ridge. Terrence's interest in the world of television and film goes back to his youth. A fan of professional wrestling, he often imitated the announcers that captivated his attention at such a young age. In 2006 he was granted an opportunity to begin that journey of using his voice to entertain audiences across the Mid-South. Since 2006, Terrence has continued that work expanding into voice over work and documentary productions. He credits his Father's service of 15 years in the United States Army as the catalyst for his latest project, Arkansas Valor. With 18 family members who have served or are serving in the United States Armed Forces, Arkansas Valor came as no surprise. Because of his commitments to preserving the stories of our veterans, he was appointed to the Wings of Honor Museum Board of Directors in June 2017. He credits his life and experiences to God and is thankful for family and friends who've supported him all these years.

Director Statement

I am honored to be able to capture the stories of our nation's veterans who've served at home and abroad. Their selfless sacrifices have earned them a permeant place in the halls of history and in my heart. Capturing their stories is preserving our history. Perspectives of history that you will not find in text books. Perspectives that offer raw emotion and honesty in some of the most bleak of circumstances. Their tenacity to survive and defend our freedoms are expressed in these documentaries, yet their voice is united in one particular way. They do not seek glory. They do not seek recognition. They see it as just doing their duty. I hope that you will enjoy this film and the effort that was put into its production.
