Director Biography - Juan Pablo Daranas Molina

Juampa is a Cuban filmmaker and the president of FILA20, a Cuban film collective based in New York City. FILA20's work has been screened at hundreds of festivals, including Borscht, Rhode Island, Glasgow, Miami, New Orleans, Rooftop Films, Sundance, Warsaw, etc.; and on platforms like Amazon Video, Booooooom.TV, Comcast Xfinity, Omeleto, Short of the Week, and ShortsTV.

Juampa's filmography as writer/director includes YUNAISY, winner of a dozen of awards and screened by 50+ festivals; ÁNGELA, an official selection at Glasgow, New Orleans, HBO New York Latino FF, etc.; CUSTOMER SERVICE, featured on Short of the Week; and TWILIGHT, winner of the New Jersey, Martinique, and Muestra Joven festivals. He has also directed projects for Galleria Continua, Louis Vuitton, the Museum of Modern Art, The Bronx Museum of the Arts, etc.

Passionate about nature and science, Juampa dreams of exploring those topics in films that are not boring. At least, not too boring.
