Director Statement

The New Year is a film based off author Tim Pratt’s short story “Happy Old Year”, whom I reached out to in the hopes of making a short film based on it - and to my surprise he responded that very night.

The New Year is a story that deals with the idea of reliving your past to fix the things that you regret - and how futile an endeavor that really is. One can only move forward with the the lessons they’ve learned, and if you hold on to the past, that’s where you will get stuck.

Creating The New Year was a testament to the passion that myself and the cast/crew felt towards creating an independent project that was as good as we could make it. An incredible investment of time and talent went into this film for about five months of production. I am humbled and very proud of everyone involved, and it’s them that made the film what it is.
