Ina Rose Farestad came to Los Angeles from Sweden in 2014 to pursue an acting career. She has appeared in several short films and web series since then. While being on set she also became more and more intrigued by the magic that happens behind the camera. As a result, Stand By Her is Ina's writer-directorial debut. After making Stand By Her, Ina enrolled into the Director's Certificate Program at UCLA Extension and is currently in post-production of her second project, Blvd of Broken Dreams, a short neo-film noir.
I love how films and great story telling can take you to a better place. I wrote this short chick-flick because I wanted to celebrate friendship and because I wanted to highlight that you are not ‘alone’ in society just because you aren't coupled up romantically with someone. It's about support, solidarity and standing up for each other, no matter if you are friends or strangers.
In Stand By Her, the main protagonist Nina is suffering from a core shattering breakup. Every girl can relate to her. At the same time, every girl can also relate to Nina's best friend Erica. The one who is always there for you through good times and bad times. Nina's living nightmare turns into a dream.
