ISRAELI – PALESTINIAN CINEMATIC PROJECT
Four filmmakers, Israeli and Palestinian, created short films, both documentary and fiction, on the subject of SPORT.
Produced in creative freedom and in mixed crews of Palestinian and Israelis, the films reflect a personal, courageous point of view on reality.

SPORT is a continuation of WATER which opened Settimana Internazionale della Critica at the Venice International Film Festival, 2012. WATER is the winner of France Amnesty International Award 2013.

Letter of Intent
I completed the first Israeli-Palestinian cinematic project “Coffee-Between Reality and Imagination” (2010) at the time of a harsh Gaza flotilla confrontation. Upon completion of the second project “WATER” (2012), another military campaign broke out, and as a result, distribution of the project was cut short. “SPORT”, was produced during another escalation of violence in the summer of 2014. Even now while writing these words there is a constant tension and violent clashes between Israeli and Palestinians.
Throughout the years I find myself repeatedly working with people who not only do not know one another, they have erroneous perceptions of one another. Most Israelis-Jews consider the Palestinians potential terrorists and most Palestinians consider every Israeli a soldier, a symbol of occupation. This preventing of knowledge brings indifference which has become a real threat.

I don't delude myself that art can bring political changes: the reality that we live in is too difficult and complex for that. However, I know that we created a group of young people full of energy, determined to choose a different step forward. Yes, it is a small step, but nevertheless a step full of hope.
