Jules (she/they) is a Brazilian-Italian actor, writer and filmmaker. She's a graduate from the Stella Adler Academy conservatory in Los Angeles and studied film at the International Academy of Cinema in São Paulo, Brazil.
I chose this story as my directorial debut because there's a history of neurodegenerative diseases in my family, and the thought of one day losing my mind often keeps me up at night. I found in Vittoria a way to cope with that fear.
The biggest challenges in this film were filming it as a oner, and making it while still living in Brazil with the whole cast and crew based in Los Angeles. I flew to LA a few days before the shoot, and the whole pre and post production happened remotely. Making it a long take was definitely a challenge I was aware of and ready to face from the get go, hoping to keep audiences immersed as they peek for 13 continuous minutes into someone else's life.
I have gained so much experience during this process, and had the chance to work with some incredible up and coming artists whom I undoubtedly learned a lot from. This film is very personal and special to me and I am excited to finally share it with the world.
Thank you,
Jules
