Debuting with a self-empowering track set to a classic 90s beat, Black Lavender is stepping into
the scene with a provocative look at what's to come with their future releases. A lyricist and storyteller at heart, Black Lavender has utilized the power of songwriting in the form of a therapeutic release. When listening to their work it’s impossible to not feel the emotions flowing through their voice with each line they utter.
The multidisciplinary artist born in Ibadan, Nigeria migrated to the United States with their family at the age of six. Singing at their father's church impacted Lavender during their formative years. However, it was the artists they were exposed to later on such as Nicki Minaj, Asian Doll, and Paramore that inspired them to later move to Los Angeles and fully pursue a career in the arts.
Black Lavender is already establishing themself as a force to be reckoned with while only being a rookie to the game. Their self-described sound is “genre-bending”. The implementation of various musical influences including Nicki Minaj, Asian Doll, Bbymutha, Paramore and Phoenix, have elevated the artist’s music, keeping you on your toes with its refreshing sound and intricate lyrics.
