Director Biography - Elton de Almeida

With a BA in Film and Television by University of São Paulo, Elton de Almeida is a young Brazilian filmmaker who has worked as a writer and director in short films and experimental video projects. His first film, “Fish Head”, was produced during his late college years and exhibited at Brazilian film festivals dedicated to short length movies in the years of 2012 and 2013. “Pluto and Charon”, freely inspired by David Bowie’s classical “Life on Mars?”, was financed by a British Council associated festival and, through a teenage scenario, continues the research of his previous work on themes such as fragmentation of identity and transformation of reality by one’ subjectivity. Currently is in post-production of a new fiction short called “Preto” (Black, in Portuguese), about the connections between racial and economic inequality in contemporary urban Brazil.
