Director Statement

I’ve been making comedies since high school and I’ve always been inspired to entertain my audience and make them laugh. I like to write intense or emotional stories with comic relief. I believe successful comedies require good acting, timing and delivery. As a director I put much time and thought into casting. I encourage improvisation with my actors and believe this helps the comedic moments feel natural.

I am interested in exploring themes of rage and anger to discover intense realism. I want the audience to believe my film is somewhat real. If the arguments are serious and heated but at the same time childish or weird, I believe there is dark comedy to be discovered amongst the chaos.

Playboy Eddy is a drama with comedic moments baked in. The relationships between characters are complex but strong. I hope my film inspires people to give up drugs for their loved ones. The film’s message is about reconnecting with family and moving on from a destructive past. Love shared with family and friends should allow people to rise up from anything and everything.
