pink to paper to yellow or green
The installation consists of a wooden construction covered with paper, onto which a stop-motion video is projected, underpinned with speech. I photographed and filmed over several weeks within a backdrop of paper and mirrored surfaces on which I painted in a high-contrast, abstract formal language. In addition, two female protagonists performed simple movement sequences while painting and being painted.
Through the cinematic process of animation, the painting seems to come to life. It talks, flicks, hesitates, is restless and changes in lustful cascades. Collaged spoken phrases seem to moderate and expand the associative space of the color events. Some of the phrases were inspired by poems of the writers John Ashbury, Dorothea Lasky and William Carlos Willliams.

I work at the interface between painting, performance and video in self-created or existing environments. My video installations are spacious and immersive and include video, animation and sound. For a long time I have been developing painterly-filmic structures in which physical improvisation, voice and musical composition, color tone and timbre work reciprocally. Historically feminized themes of female art from a paternalistic point of view, such as the body, decoration, lyricism and psychologization, I take up as subversive material.
