Writer Biography - La'Chris Jordan

Born and raised in California and Louisiana, La’Chris Jordan is a playwright, actor and writer/director based in Los Angeles. For each project, La’Chris’ mission has been to create and share deeply personal and compelling dramas about women across the world. Named by the Dramatists Guild as “One of the 50 Playwrights to Watch,” La’Chris was recently selected as a Fellow for the 2021 BIPOC Writers Fellowship created by The Writers Room 5050 and Level 4 Press. As an immersive storyteller, La’Chris is best known for her directorial drama debut, “January 14th,” which has been screened in 60+ film festivals worldwide and received 40+ awards and nominations, including an Africa Movie Academy Awards nomination for Best Diaspora Short Film. A winner in the Script Lab’s Screenplay Contest, La’Chris’ TV pilots and features have placed in the Academy Nicholl Fellowship, Sundance Episodic Lab, Stowe Story Labs, MACRO Episodic Lab, Austin Film Festival and Atlanta Film Festival. A passionate advocate for gender equity, La’Chris is the program coordinator for #StartWith8Hollywood, a diversity, equity and inclusion program created by and for Black, Latina, Asian and Indigenous women working in entertainment.
