Pedro Henrique Chaves is a Brazilian writer-director who translates personal experiences into films. The stronghold of his projects is the close work with actors focused on creating sensible and character-driven narratives. Pedro believes in cinema as a tool of representation, listening, and memory. His films aim to resonate with the audience through different perspectives of the best stories behind the layers. ROCKET, his first short film, premiered at the HBO-presented New York Latino Film Festival (NYLFF) and has been screened at several other international festivals, including NewFilmmakers LA, in partnership with The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences and International University Academic Film Festival (FACIUNI), supported by DirecTV, WarnerMedia, Sundance Collab, and CAA, where it won Best Film. Pedro was awarded a scholarship for the USC School of Cinematic Arts Summer program. The Thailand Short Film Competition selected him to make a documentary in Thailand during a student filmmakers' event. He also participated in the Sundance Film Festival as an intern for the National Association of Latinos Independent Producers (NALIP).
