The Footprint

Its all about Muzris heritage, a melting pot of the oriental and occidental cultures. Kalppadu, The Footprint, is a documentary film that highlights the most unique artform that is peculiar to the Muzris heritage. The Portuguese missionaries belong to the Jesuit monastic order went instrumental for the evolution of the dance-drama ‘Chavittunatakom’ as a means to propaganda to Christianity, among various other tactics. They copied and simulated with unparalleled creative skills the features of various art forms there in vogue in Kerala, India as such they copies the unique signs and steps belong to the art forms like the Koodiyattam, Chakkiyarkoothu, Kathakali, Padakom, Yakshagana and various forms of tribal dances along with the moves and steps pecculiar to the martial art Kalaripayattu of the Malabar Country in Kerala in the making of the Chavittunatakom. As unique art forms it still remains and flaurishes in kerala and refuses itself to fade away.

The Cinematographic narration covers fairly a long spam of time down from Renaissance in Europe to the present status of the art of in Kerala, India.
