Experiencing Interruptions?

Overcome

There are currently 21.3 million refugees worldwide and that number is growing. More than half of all refugees are children. Every minute 24 people are displaced from their homes due to war, violence and persecution. World Relief considers the refugees in our community some of the most vulnerable among us.

With the help of the United Nations Refugee Agency, World Relief welcomes and resettles thousands of refugees referred to the United States each year and helps them in securing housing, employment and education. World Relief provides compassionate and holistic care from the moment a refugee arrives at the airport all the way through to their journey of self-sufficiency.

"Overcome" offers a glimpse into World Relief Memphis and the refugees they’ve helped resettle in Memphis Tennessee.

Director Biography - Jordan Danelz

Over the years I've worked every job you can find on a call sheet which has allowed me to have immense respect for the crew. It takes a creative village to produce memorable work. In my mind it’s not enough to just show up and film. For me the past twelve years has been about using my heart to connect with the hearts and stories of others. You have to approach a world with honesty, humility and empathy in order to reach the emotional well you want to draw from. Making sure the lives in front of the lens are honored and respected during the entire production process is the most important thing to me as a filmmaker.
