Our Year
In 2013, the season of the Stirling Clansmen (university american football team) ended with a heart-breaking loss to the Birmingham Lions. 'Our Year' follows the team from that moment, and throughout the 2013/14 season, as they attempt to overcome the loss (and the doubts of many around the UK) to aim for their goal of becoming national champions for the first time since 2003. How will the team handle being doubted by the country, and how will they face their rivals this time around? Can they complete the dream this time?
The story is told by key members of the squad; graduating senior players & coaches. Their story reveals the belief, passion & commitment that existed in the team, as well as the desire to end their careers at the top.

Allan and Stuart have been working together for the past 5 years on multiple projects, with their release of 'Our Year' as the culmination of their ongoing work in pioneering the broadcasting and filming of the UK American Football leagues.
Both are talented camera operators and editors, and managed a larger camera crew on this project, and have developed 'Our Year' together.
It was a real pleasure working on this project - from the moment we identified the opportunity, it has been a positive journey to work with everyone involved. We are proud of what we have already achieved in the development of UK American Football - particularly in the pioneering of live broadcasting of the game- and hope that this documentary will continue to raise awareness of the game.
From a directors' point of view, it was a pleasure to work with a team (the Stirling Clansmen) that offered us so much freedom of access in our filming, and were receptive to our ideas too. With a small team, and extremely limited budget, we were able to produce something that gives a fair reflection of the season and what the Clansmen experienced.
