The Phoenix Rising Film Festival is a High School and Jr High School film festival put on by the Phoenix Rising Film Club from Idaho Arts Charter School located in Nampa Idaho.

The festival is open for student film submissions allowing local High School and Jr High students, as well as others to compete in multiple categories of film projects like narrative films, short films, documentary, music videos and experimental films. Students will be able to submit via film freeway at a low cost to make the festival accessible to all.

Awards and trophies along with cash prizes will be handed out and distributed at at an awards ceremony after the showing of finalists and competitors films.

Workshops, labs, keynote speakers, and other opportunities will be available during the festival. Industry professionals will be invited to make appearances and lead workshops to provide students with more opportunities of growth and film industry experience.

The Phoenix Rising Film Festival will focus on giving students the opportunity to showcase their work in a real and competitive film festival. It will give students the experience to grow, learn, and discover new opportunities with peers and industry professionals alike while receiving positive feedback for their own projects. It will be a fantastic night of fun, competition, and growth. Come join us for the annual Phoenix Rising Film Festival.

All 1st place winners in their specific categories will receive 100$, a custom award trophy and a printed or downloadable certificate associated with their award.

The categories of submission include, Narrative Short Film, Documentary Short film, Music Video, Animated Short Film, and Movie Trailer. Other possible awards given for the night will include, Best Actor / Actress, Best Sound Design, Best Cinematography, Best Lighting, Best Graphics, Best Ensemble, and Best Director.

All contestants may be eligible to receive the "Phoenix Rising Award" which is the highest honor of the Phoenix Rising Film Festival. This Award will go to a film team that our jury of judges will deem the most outstanding film of the entire festival.

All 2nd and 3rd place contestants, along with all finalist will receive a printed and/or downloadable certificate of achievement.

Note: (A finalist is a top ten contestant in their specific genre.)


RULES AND GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSIONS

The following is an explanation of the Rules and Guidelines governing submissions to the Phoenix Rising Film Festival. Compliance with these Rules and Guidelines is necessary in order to participate in the Festival. Submission implies unconditional acceptance of the Rules & Guidelines, therefore, please carefully read through the Rules prior to submitting your pitch.

1. The Festival accepts submissions in the following genres:

Narrative Short Film, Documentary Short Film, Music Video, Movie Trailer.

2. The Entrant/s submitting the film must hold all legal rights for the submission, as well as all necessary clearances for public exhibition.

3. The Contestants retain/s all submission and intellectual property rights.

4. All submissions must be in 16x9 1080p Format via film freeway download.

5. All films must be submitted electronically via FilmFreeway in digital download format.

6. The Contestant/s is/are responsible for making sure all submission materials are submitted by the deadlines indicated. If your submission is not uploaded by the deadline for which you have registered, you may be required to pay the higher submission fee or withdrawn.

7. The following concerns submission deadlines and submission fees. All submissions are accepted only through FilmFreeway.

8. Films must be original works and may not have been a previously funded project or concept.

9. Submissions must be in English.

10. Please review your submissions to ensure quality and guideline requirements.

11. Contestants ARE allowed to submit more than one pro for the festival, provided that each submission is submitted separately and meets all of the festival guidelines.

12. Contestants are NOT allowed to re-submit a project that was previously submitted. Once a pitch is submitted and obtained by the festival it will not consider any changes or updates continuing thereafter. All submissions are final.

13. Entrants may view their submission status only through FilmFreeway or check their status through The Phoenix Rises Film Festival website.

14. All personal contact information is to remain confidential and not to be shared with any third parties.

15. The Phoenix Rises Film Festival reserves the right to use images from submissions selected in the Festival for marketing purposes.

16. All decisions regarding award winners are considered final and incontestable.

17. Applicants acknowledge that the Phoenix Rises Film Festival reserves the right to change the nature of screenings and events due to circumstances related to public health and welfare or at the direction of local, state, or federal authorities. In such cases, no submission refunds shall be issued.

18. (JUDGING) Judgment will be executed by a panel of judges using a uniform point system to minimize bias. The areas of judgment will focus on quality of Cinematography, Sound Design, Acting, Set Design, and Story.

19. The Phoenix Rises Film Festival reserves the right to change, edit, or omit judgment criteria, and or number of judges based on availability and execution. Each finalist will receive a judgement feedback form detailing their scores and placement on their submission.
