Director Statement

Before One Friend was born, I had already written another script for a short film based on the same basic starting point - location; we had a filming location that first inspired me to start writing. But then I hit a dead end, the story simply didn't work. At the time, my wife had started working as a social worker, and inspired by her, and literature on mental health disorders and social work, everything just clicked into place! Mental health is something that can be endless source of stories and inspiration and quite shocking and stunning at the same time, but through all that madness, One Friend really deals with much simpler aspects of basic things like loneliness, freedom, love and relationships; it is the way the story is told that makes it worthwhile and unique and interesting. Hopefully the film pulls you in to see and feel what it is all about.
