Omernas
Omernas tells the story of Antonio, a 20-year-old aspiring musician from a small town near Salerno. His passion for music is both his refuge and his source of struggle as he navigates the doubts of his parents and the challenges of a provincial life. After winning a local singing contest, Antonio believes it’s time to pursue his dream of performing at the famous Sanremo Music Festival. With the help of his uncle Edoardo, a radio worker linked to the festival, Antonio embarks on a road trip to Sanremo. However, once there, he realizes that the world of showbiz is not as welcoming as he imagined. His journey through Sanremo is filled with excitement, disappointment, and self-reflection, ultimately challenging his aspirations and forcing him to reconsider his place in the music world. Omernas is a tale of youthful dreams, unexpected realities, and personal growth.

Frè, born in Naples in 1992, developed a passion for visual art and filmmaking from an early age. After earning a degree in Architecture in 2016, he decided to leave the academic world behind and pursue his true calling: cinema. Over the years, he has directed more than 140 productions, including music videos, short films, documentaries, and animations, which have been widely shared by major international outlets such as Repubblica, Fanpage, and Le Monde.
His most acclaimed short film, Il Vicino, was selected for the 2018 Festival dei Popoli, one of the most prestigious documentary film festivals in Europe, and later distributed on Amazon Prime, establishing him as one of the most promising young directors of his generation.
In addition to his filmmaking career, Frè has collaborated with Casa Surace, the renowned comedy collective and social media content creator, working on several projects with them. He is also deeply committed to social causes, leading creative workshops in Italian prisons, where he uses cinema as a tool for expression and rehabilitation for inmates.
Currently, Frè is working on various film projects, constantly exploring new creative horizons. He also dedicates part of his time to mentoring young artists and emerging filmmakers, contributing to the development of a new generation of talents in the Italian audiovisual landscape.
"For me, cinema is a tool for exploration and reflection. Through images, I try to tell stories that reveal the nuances of the human condition. With Omernas, I wanted to explore the conflict between dreams and reality, and how youthful ambitions can clash with a world often more complex and harsh than imagined. Every project I create stems from my need to give voice to emotions and situations that would otherwise remain silent."
