OBOLUS

Down in the depth of a dark cave an old ritual takes place in an embedded temple. Chosen by holy hazard a young woman finds herself as subject of this ceremony. Determined for a higher purpose and flooded by sunlight she now has to pay the prize for her „fortune”.

Director Statement

OBOLUS is the result of the set extension workshop at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg. Essentially it’s an overlap of 3 departments: cinematography, art department and animation with focus on vfx. The team was supervised by industry professionals. Steffen Oberle and I came up with this idea of a mythic, dark science fiction ritual. Time was very limited but our technical possibilities and this enormous amount of energy the whole team invested allowed us to create that world around a story about power and sacrifice.
